Wind power captures the natural wind in our atmosphere and converts it into mechanical energy, then electricity. People started using wind power centuries ago with windmills, which pumped water, ground grain, and did other work. Today's wind turbine is a highly evolved version of a windmill.

EDF uses wind turbines to power its office space, while gaining valuable insight into the viability of larger scale wind power at its location.

Pyrolysis is a thermochemical decomposition of organic material at elevated temperature without the participation of oxygen. In this process, long polymer molecules are broken down into shorter chains of hydrocarbons with the help of heat and pressure.

Our main operation also provides bio-diesel for our back up generators

OFF THE GRID OPERATIONS

Solar cells, also called photovoltaic (PV) cells by scientists, convert sunlight directly into electricity. PV gets its name from the process of converting light (photons) to electricity (voltage), which is called the PV effect.

EDF uses solar PV to power its guard shack weigh scales and its office. With outages being regular occurence using the national grid EDF decided early on to run its entire operation entirely off the grid!

ABOUT

Energies du Futur is a collaboration between private companies based in Canada and Senegal and includes the town of Nguekokh as a partner in our projects.

The goal is simple, create positive economic activity, based on providing clean energy to West Africa.

The team is comprised of professionals for Senegal and Canada. With decades of international experience, the diverse team has made incredible progress, in fact, they took the concept of cleaning up waste, creating employment and making clean energy; did the due diligence, found the technology, received their environmental approvals and built the facility in under 2 years.

They have received much support including having great advisors such as philanthropist, Mr Ian Telfer, the Chairman of GoldCorp. The Honorable Mr. David Emerson Marie Lucie-Morin, MP Pamela Goldsmith-Jones and General Lamine Cisse of Senegal. These people have given valuable time and advice to assist in the successful implementation of this first of its kind project in Senegal.
